Shihan Kawasoe

(8th Dan)

Masao Kawasoe is the Chief Instructor of the United Kingdom Traditional Karate Federation as well as several other European Countries. Shihan Kawasoe began his martial arts training in judo then at the age of 15 following a karate demonstration which so impressed him he took up karate. One of his first instructors was the world famous Sensei Tsuyama. He also spent some time at the well-known Karate University of Takushoku.
He was invited by the Japanese Karate Association (JKA) to take full time JKA instructors course under Sensei Nakayama and successfully completed this over a period of 3 years. Shihan Kawasoe’s dojo is in London.
In his own words:
"I am lucky to have good karate, but even more I am lucky to have good students to carry it forward. My wish is to leave something worthwhile behind for everyone. My life is then complete."

Jimmy Liang is the Chief Instructor of DonSai Karate Club

Jiimmy was born 11th March 1958 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, East Africa.
He came to England in 1976 and started karate in 1977 at Shihan Kawasoe's Dojo in Philbeach Gardens, Earls Court. After 3 years of hard training with some of the best karatekas in the country Jimmy got ShoDan (1st Dan) in 1980. He started competing in 1978 in the Southern Regions Competitions and the National Championships at Crystal Palace.
Jimmy has on many occasions competed in individual and team events for England and Great Britain in both the European and World Championships. He is also an English Karate Governing Body (EKGB) and English Traditional Karate Federation (ETKF) recognised coach and a United Kingdom Traditional Karate Federation (UKTKF) qualified judge and referee.
